Oxford Girls Take Down Marathon To Earn Second Win Of Season

MARATHON – After defeating Unadilla Valley in the 2024 season opener, the Oxford Blackhawks girls basketball team traveled to Marathon in Saturday’s matinee. Oxford picked up its second win of the season with a 46-25 victory.

The Blackhawks posted 30 points in the first half and held Marathon to only nine points within those opening 16 minutes. From there, Oxford settled in and controlled both ends of the court steadily.

Paige Rickard and Margaret Rovente had another impressive game as Rickard led the team with 15 points, including 11 in the first half. Rovente finished with 10 points as Aubrey Rickard added nine points off the bench. Abby Denz put up six points in the second quarter while Emily Holbert chipped in four points and Jenna Denz added two in the first eight minutes of play.

Oxford (2-0) plays in the Joan Martin Tournament in Morris on Friday and Saturday.
