DOWNSVILLE – After winning the Pat Grasso tournament, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats girls basketball team started MAC league play against Walton/Downsville. B-G sneaked away with a 35-27 win in the defensive battle.
Both teams showed their strengths on offense in the first half, especially in the second quarter after a slow start. B-G took a 22-14 lead into the break. Both teams slowed things down in the second half, but B-G stayed consistent to come away with the victory.
Jayslin Henderson led the Bobcats with a double-double; 12 points and 10 rebounds, along with seven steals. Emma Kinter hit two three’s for nine points as Peyton Umbra added six points. Marissa Mayo, coming off one of her best games in the Grasso tournament, was held to just four points in the first half, but also contributed with nine rebounds. Laila Williams and Tori Suda chipped in two points apiece.
Walton/Downsville’s Grace Walley led all scorers with 23 points.
