SOUTH OTSELIC – On Monday, the Unadilla Valley Storm girls basketball team traveled to take on the Otselic Valley Lady Vikings in a non-league, non-section, but local county match-up. UV played consistently to earn the 44-21 win vs the Vikings.
UV did not allow a single field goal within the first eight minutes with pressing heavy on defense. OV, who had a break between games, got on the board in the second quarter with Mackenzie Reandeau making the first basket and then picking up a rebound to score again. UV led 20-7 at halftime and maintained a strong lead throughout the rest of the game.
UV was led by Shyla Roberts, who had 14 points, eight rebounds, and seven steals. Kora Johnson added eight points off the bench as Natalie Crandall and Myriah Taylor chipped in six points apiece. Adrienne Hodge was strong on the assists and finished with four points. Emmalyn Montgomery, Allisyn Daneill, and Avery Golliver all contributed with two points each.
Emma Rooker led the Vikings with five points as Mackenzie Reandeau finished with four points and had a team-high eight rebounds. Miranda Hackett, who had an impressive start to the season, tried to bank in some three-pointers, but nothing hit. She did finish with four points and had four steals.
