BGA And UV Winter Track Compete In Morning Session Of 607 Invite

CORTLAND – The Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton and the Unadilla Valley winter track teams competed in the 9 a.m. session of the 607 invitational held at SUNY Cortland over the weekend. Oneonta boys and girls won the overall meet with BGA girls in fourth, UV girls in 12th, BGA Boys in sixth, and UV boys in 11th place.

BGA:

Girls:

As a team, the BGA girls took fifth in the 4x200 relay with a team of Alaysia Thomas, Appalonia Bushaw, Brenna George, and Elanor Sprow before excelling in individual events.

Maddie Ingham led the girls with a top finish in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:18.91. She also finished sixth in the 300 meter dash. Vanessa Brazee came in seventh place in the 1000 meter run and Chandler Benjamin finished 23rd. Appalonia Bushaw finished ninth in the 300 meter dash with Lilyana Carpenter in 36th.

Clare Sullivan earned a second place finish in the 1500 meter race walk with Olivia Hall in third and Tabitha Charette in fourth. Emily Sprow led the BGA girls in the 55 meter hurdles with a fourth place finish with a time of 10.29 seconds with Breegan George in 13th place. Sprow also competed in the high jump (10th) and in the long jump (fourth place). Elanor Sprow finished fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 28 feet, six and a half inches. She also finished 14th in the long jump (13-3).
