NORWICH – After winning the Sherburne-Earlville girls tip-off tournament, the Norwich Purple Tornado girls basketball team hosted STAC opponent Chenango Valley on Tuesday for their home opener. Norwich came up short 45-40.
CV came out strong, outscoring Norwich 17-4 in the first eight minutes. Norwich picked up the pace before break with CV leading 25-19 at halftime. Both teams showed strength defensively in the third quarter before battling again in the final eight minutes, where CV held on to the victory.
Josey Ryan led Norwich with 13 points as Kerragan Reid hit two three’s for 11 points. Emma Urgo finished with 10 points as Brynley Ryan, Cally Richardson, and Emma Baker were held to two points apiece.
Norwich (2-2) is right back in action tonight at Chenango Forks at 7:15 p.m.
