CORTLAND – Chenango County was well-represented in the Section IV Classic held at SUNY Cortland over the weekend as the BGA, Oxford-Greene, Unadilla Valley, and Norwich indoor track teams competed.
Norwich competed in the 9 a.m. session. BGA, Oxford-Greene, and UV all ran in the 2 p.m. meet.
The BGA girls won the afternoon session with UV in 10th and Oxford-Greene in 16th. The BGA boys tied for fourth place with Binghamton. UV came in 12th and Oxford-Greene in 14th.

The BGA girls started strong as a team of Chandler Benjamin, Madi Beardslee, Maddie Ingham, and Vanessa Brazee ran to a fifth place finish in the 4000 meter distance medley relay. A team of Kate Baciuska, Madi Beardslee, Railey O’dell, and Macey LaFever finished ninth in the sprint relay.
Tabitha Charette, Maddie Ingham, and Emily Sprow all came away with top finishes in their individual events. Charette took first in the 1500 meter race walk with a new personal best time of 9:46.07 with Olivia Hall in second, Isabelle Suda in third, and Maddy Lucchese in fifth.
Ingham won the 1500 meter run with a new best time of 5:21.08 as Vanessa Brazee finished fifth and Macey LaFever in eighth.
