EARLVILLE ― Earlville Opera House announces Earlville Shuffle, An Intensive Weekend Song Development Workshop for “Band Curious” Songwriters.
We are now taking applications for this weekend dive into collaboration for developing songwriters and instrument players. The 2025 Earlville Shuffle starts on Friday afternoon, April 4, and extends through late afternoon on Sunday, April 6.
The Earlville Shuffle will take place at the historic Earlville Opera House in Earlville, NY, and is all about discovering how freshly-encountered instrumental and human voices can start with a song in simple sketch form, and emerge with a version more memorable and dynamic, or at least surprisingly different!
Twelve selected attendees will each bring a song, and they and their song will have a collaborative development session with some of their peer songwriters/players, aided by drop-in coaching from Earlville Shuffle’s distinguished faculty of veteran touring songwriters, players, and producers.
In turn, each of the participant songwriters and players will be shuffled into “ephemeral bands,” which will support the development of songs from other attendee songwriters players.
Applications are due no later than January 14, 2025. Details, including schedule, costs, and faculty bios, can be found at www.earlvilleoperahouse.com/shuffle.
Organizers state on the website, “It is important to emphasize that we are not looking for the most advanced or established songwriters, nor are we looking for the most virtuoso players of accompanying instruments. We are rather looking for songwriter/players who are in a stage of growth with their work; who are interested in discovering or enhancing their collaborative creation skills; and who can bring at least a modest-to-moderate level of ability to the experience.”
