Norwich Girls Fall Short To Moravia

MORAVIA – On Monday, the Norwich Purple Tornado girls basketball team traveled to Moravia for a non-league match-up. The Purple Tornado fell 53-48, dropping to 2-4 on the season and looking to bounce back during winter break and into the new year.

Both teams kept in line with each other with Norwich taking a brief 28-23 lead. However, the Blue Devils fought back and held Norwich from making another big run in the second half. The game was tied with less than a minute to play, but Moravia went ahead and secured the victory.

Norwich’s Josey Ryan continues to lead the offense as she scored a team-best 15 points with Emma Urgo contributing 14 points. Brynley Ryan added eight points as Kerragan Reid chipped in six, Alivia Burrell with three and Cally Richardson with two points.

Norwich (2-4) will play in the Valley Christmas tournament, starting today against Sayre at 3 p.m.
