COOPERSTOWN – The Oxford Blackhawks boys basketball team traveled to Cooperstown on Thursday to play in the opening round of the Dick White Tournament. They faced the hosting Hawkeyes and fell 84-52 in a competitive non-league matchup.
It was just Oxford’s fourth game of the season with an even 2-2 record after two big wins to start. Oxford continues to put up a fight in every game thus far, but Cooperstown was too strong from start to finish, leaving the Blackhawks unable to comeback.
Donovan Rickard led Oxford with a team-best 18 points as Jared Sheridan added 10 points. Rickard leads the Blackhawks with 20.2 points per game.
Oxford (2-2) will face Section III, Class B’s Herkimer in the Dick White tournament consolation game this evening.
