CHENANGO FORKS – The Unatego-Unadilla Valley-Franklin Spartans Wrestling team kicked off the new year with a dual meet against Chenango Forks on Thursday. The Spartans fell short 37-29.

Senior UV student Wyatt Meade remains unbeaten, where he picked up his 150th career win at a previous match before Christmas, and defeated Forks’ Tyler Ritter by a technical fall after leading 17-2. Meade is now 20-0 in his final season.

Other wins include Gavin Nordberg in the 131 weight class, picking up a 4:13 pin against Joey O’Connor. Aside from Meade, Abdeen Zaggout is undefeated at 20-0 as well as he pinned Jacob Andrews in 3:56. Abdul-Jamil Zaggout won by a 1:45 pin over Grant MacRabie while Yanni Drapaniotis improved to 20-0 as he pinned Brayden Wildey in 1:39.
