NORWICH – It was a special night at Norwich’s own Jack Jones Gymnasium as the Norwich Purple Tornado boys basketball team took on STAC opponent Chenango Forks. Both the JV and Varsity teams came away with big wins over Forks with the Varsity earning the 75-33 victory.

Prior to the start of the Varsity game, the Norwich boys basketball boosters held two special ceremonies. Each year, the Norwich boys and girls basketball programs take turns dedicating the year’s basketball program. Last year, the girls dedicated the season to former alumni Bridget Schena.

This year, it was the boys’ turn, where it was only fitting that the 2024-2025 program was dedicated to the Vinal family; John SR, John and Tracie. The Vinal family has been a part of the Norwich boys basketball community for over two decades whether it was as a coach, son / grandson as a player, selling 50/50 tickets, or even taking photos (Tracie). The Vinal family gives so much back to the Norwich community that it was well-deserving for them to receive this honor.
