NORWICH – After an exciting comeback win against Windsor in their previous game, the Norwich Purple Tornado boys basketball team could not make it happen against rivals Oneonta at home on Saturday afternoon. Norwich fell 75-66 in a hard-fought game. The JV boys sneaked away with a 60-56 win.

Both teams brought the intensity, showing their strengths going into the contest with only one loss on the season. The physicality was evident throughout the contest with Norwich’s Steven Dowdall driving to the basket and Oneonta coming out strong with rebounds and steals and couldn’t be stopped defensively, even with Norwich battling back.

Steven Dowdall led all scorers with 33 points on the day and went 11-for-13 on the free-throw line, as he was fouled numerous times driving to the basket and going up for three’s. Norwich went 15-for-19 at the line overall. Dowdall also knocked in three three’s.

Mitchell Collins followed with 11 points, thriving in the second half with 11 points as Kassen Stubb added 10 points and Graham Burton with eight. Carmine Pastore and Cooper Chrystie both finished with two points apiece.
