CLIFTON PARK - Norwich's Maverick Beckwith competed at Section nine's Eastern States Classic over a two-day stretch, where he took second in the 124 weight class. He suffered his first loss of the season in the finals against Midwood's Evin Gursoy in a 9-3 decision.

Beckwith picked up two wins by tech fall, won a 2-0 decision against Hewlett's Carlos Salazar, and pinned Plainedge's Frucci Luca in 1:36.

Beckwith is now 29-1 on the season as Norwich heads to Ithaca for a dual meet on Friday at 6 p.m.
