Norwich Indoor Track Competes At Friday’s Utica Challenge

UTICA – The Norwich Purple Tornado indoor track teams competed in Friday’s session of the Utica Challenge held at Utica University. The team continues to celebrate milestones this season with Gabe Decker and now the boys’ 4x400 team hitting the state standard as well as athletes breaking school records. Ava Cirigliano broke the 400 meter record, previously held by alum Sydney Chaffee. Ava ran a new best 1:04.32 for second place, behind Sidney’s 58.83.

The Norwich girls took 11th at the invite while the boys came in sixth place.

Girls:

The Norwich girls’ relay teams came away with a sixth place and a 10th place finish. A team of Annie Boland, Kyra Brunick-Davis, McKenzie Hagenbuch, and Emilia Pepe finished sixth in the 4x800 as Ava Cirigliano, Bri Cirigliano, Hagenbuch, and Tristan Monroe led the 4x200 to a 10th place finish.

Aside from her record-breaking performance, Ava came in 10th in the 300 meter dash with a time of 45.54 seconds as Bri came in 21st with a new best 52.54 seconds. Tristan Monroe finished 13th in the 400 meter dash with a new best time of 1:11.39.
