OXFORD — The Oxford Memorial Library, located at 8 Fort Hill Park in Oxford, will be hosting their monthly Adult Craft Night at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 30 in the Community Room.

Participants will be learning how to make a suet bird feeder using vintage teacups and old mugs.

"For this month we are going to be making a suet bird feeder in a teacup. So we can use either vintage teacups, if someone has a mug at home that has a little chip, or just something that’s cute, they can use that," said Oxford Memorial Library Clerk Gillian Mulder.

Adult Craft Night is always free to attend, and Mulder said all supplies will be provided. Attendees can also bring their own teacup or mug to use in the craft if they'd like.

"We provide all the supplies. For this specific craft people can bring their own cup if they’d like, but we will have enough for people to come and if they don’t bring anything that’s perfectly fine," Mulder said. "We’ll have all the bird seed and the supplies to make the suet. We’ll have ribbon and twine, and some teacups to choose from."

What's more, Mulder said the teacups are reusable, so when the birds eat all the suet, it can be refilled and reused again and again.

"It’s great because once the birds eat the suet it can be refilled, and I will have the recipe and instructions for people to take home as well to do it again," she said.

Pre-registration is not required for this craft; individuals can simply show up that night and enjoy an evening of crafting.

Adult Craft Night is hosted once a month at the Oxford Memorial Library, as well as a free Family Craft Night.

"Our adult craft nights are always a craft that’s accessible to anybody, no matter if they're artsy or not," said Mulder. "I try to make it as straightforward as possible but still fun and a bit more elevated to our adult participants rather than our family craft nights."

The library also offers other events, such as educational programs about local history, a summer reading program, family game nights, educational workshops, and more.
