BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats girls basketball team hosted Walton/Downsville for a MAC league matchup on Wednesday evening. Both teams sit comfortably in the middle of the league standings with B-G in fourth and Walton/Downsville in sixth.

Wednesday’s league contest showed an impressive comeback for Walton/Downsville in the third quarter, but B-G had a big run in the final eight minutes, holding their opponent to two points. B-G earned the 54-32 win to improve to 8-4 on the season.

The first seven points of the game were free-throws by both teams, causing some early foul troubles. B-G picked up five team fouls late in the first quarter with trying to guard Walton/Downsville’s Grace Walley too physically. Grace Walley had 11 points in first half, held to none in the second half.

Tori Suda was matched up with Walley and provided excellent defense as well as other teammates, who blocked Walley’s movement in the second half.

B-G took a brief 19-13 lead at halftime before Walton/Downsville fought back in the second half.
