NORWICH - The Development Chenango Corporation and the City of Norwich are happy to announce the completion of the first of many Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) Projects.
Park Place Sports Bar and Grill has a renovated façade, complete with a new awning and sliding front windows. Much more than a fresh look, this project represents the start of economic revitalization in downtown Norwich.
Commerce Chenango President and CEO Sal Testani states, “Our small businesses invest in the community every day with their presence and services. Many would love a new facade but lack the resources to do so. These grants are a step toward creating a more vibrant downtown.”
The owners of Park Place are especially excited about the free summer concert series in East Park on Thursday nights. “Park Place is setting the standard of a successful business” claimed Testani. “This summer, thousands of people will flood the park and enjoy this restaurant.”
The DRI is a statewide initiative to breathe life into the downtowns of New York. In Norwich, this takes the form of the Small Project Grant Fund. While there are projects being completed currently, more funding is available. Contact City of Norwich Community Development Director Erik Scrivener at escrivener@Norwichnewyork.net.
