NORWICH - A convicted sex offender in the Town of Norwich was arrested on Jan. 24 for failing to notify law enforcement of an address change, according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.

Travis S. Button, 52, was charged with violating New York's Correction Law, for failing to report his new address to law enforcement, a Class D felony, reported police on Tuesday. Authorities allege that his failure to comply left his whereabouts unknown.

Under state law, Button, a registered level two sex offender, is legally required to notify the appropriate police jurisdiction of his address, explained the Sheriff's Office.

Button is currently being held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Norwich Court at a later date.

All allegations are accusations, and Button is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
