GREENE – Tuesday evening was a great night all around for Greene, especially the boys, who came away with a hard fought 52-43 win over Harpursville. This win marked their first of the 2024-2025 season, which did not come easy, but came at the right time.
Greene also celebrated senior night for their eight seniors. Congratulations to Kloden Rapp, Tristan Donnelly, Keaton Browning, Parker Flanagan, Lincoln Youngs, Kegan Evans, Nick Holt, and Tucker Phillips.
Greene’s head coach Caleb Link said before he shared the seniors’ favorite memories that this group is the first group he ever coached on JV when they were freshmen, so he was excited for them and grateful to be sharing this moment with them.
Both teams battled in the first quarter with Greene taking the edge 15-14 lead at the end of the first eight minutes. From there, Greene built a steady lead on the Hornets as the Trojans were able to move inside and also find success early on with threes from Parker Flanagan.
Greene also came away with big steals in the second quarter and held Harpursville to two baskets to take a 27-18 lead.
Harpursville cut the lead early on in the third quarter from the free-throw line and showed strength rebounding the ball offensively and defensively, when Greene were not able to finish their shots. Greene held a six-point lead to end the third quarter.
