NORWICH — The Chenango Arts Council, located at 27 West Main Street in Norwich, is promoting the arts of all kinds in the coming months with workshops, events, and opportunities for teaching artists.

The upcoming events kick off with the "Get Cary-ed Away" double-feature event, which will include a screening of two Cary Grant films in the Martin W. Kappel Theater beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12.

The evening will begin with a showing of "His Girl Friday," a fast-paced comedy from 1940 starring Cary Grant and Rosilind Russell. The film follows a newspaper editor desperately trying to win back his reporter ex-wife by enticing her with an interview with a death-row convict.

After a brief intermission, guest can enjoy a screening of "Charade," a 1963 mystery film starring Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, and Walter Matthau. This twisting tale in Paris, France involves a mysterious murder, a stolen fortune, and a swarm of goons vying for the pilfered riches.

The films are free to attend, but the Arts Council will be accepting free-will donations from those who would like to give. Beverages, light snacks, and popcorn will be provided for free as well.

On Thursday, February 20, the Arts Council will be hosting a keyhole scarf crochet workshop beginning at 6 p.m. in the Arts Council's classroom.

A keyhole scarf is a unique garment that features a hole in one end, so the other end of the scarf can be pulled through.
