SHERBURNE - The 47th annual Winter Living Celebration took place Saturday at the Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, offering a variety of outdoor activities and educational demonstrations.
The event featured horse-drawn sleigh rides, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing. Forest Rangers from the Department of Environmental Conservation performed ice rescue demonstrations, showcasing water rescues and ice safety measures. Trout Unlimited demonstrated fly-tying, while visitors also participated in cross-cut sawing and live music entertainment.
A new addition to this year’s event was the opening of the Sugar Shack, a project completed in collaboration with Friends of Rogers, the Chenango County Historical Society, Clear Path for Veterans, and the DCMO BOCES Carpentry program.
Inside the Bird Cabin, 4-H teens from Cornell Cooperative Extension led a craft activity, helping children create stick people. 4-H organizers expressed appreciation for the 4-H participants and families who attended.
Friends of Rogers thanked attendees, volunteers, and partner organizations for contributing to the success of the event.
