SHERBURNE – The owners of the Sherburne Big M grocery store announced the business' closure this week:
It is with great sadness that my family and I announce that the Sherburne Big M will be closing in the near future.
My parents Rogers and Gloria bought Records IGA in May of 1973. In the beginning my mom, my brothers, and I all worked for the store. My parents retired in 1994 and spent the next 20 years traveling. My wife and I raised our family next door, and our children grew up with the store as a large part of their lives.
Of the past 52 years, I have spent close to 50 of them working in the family business. My son Zachary has worked along side me for the past 25 years.
My emotions run deep now, not only for my family but for all our staff and their families. We shared good times and bad including weddings, births, graduations, and deaths. We hired high school kids along with retirees. We prided ourselves on aiding the disabled, people without transportation, churches, school organizations, sports, and community fund raisers. We delivered to shut-in’s, elderly and with open arms supported our community during the exceedingly challenging time of Covid.
Our dedicated staff worked tirelessly to support us and you. We treated all our customers with respect and kindness. We were lucky enough to meet many friends and we will deeply miss you all.
We understand the economic times and did our absolute best to provide the community with the dedicated service you cannot find in large box stores. This will be a loss for our community and leaves us with a heavy heart.
For all who have supported us for all these years we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Sincerely,
the Fowler Family
