NORWICH - A water main break in the City of Norwich that left several homes without service has been repaired, with full water restoration confirmed as of 8:49 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, city officials said.
The issue was first reported earlier in the day, affecting multiple residences in the Locust, Conkey, Hickory, and Elm Street areas. By 5:10 p.m., most homes had regained water service, except for approximately 15 residences. Repairs were delayed as crews awaited clearance from New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) to safely excavate and assess the situation.
Officials advised residents experiencing discolored water to flush their cold water taps, as sediment may have been disturbed during the repairs.
No further service disruptions are expected, and city officials continue to monitor the system.
