NORWICH - The week before his trial was set to begin, a man accused of a spate of break-ins at local convenience stores accepted a deal from prosecutors and pleaded guilty to two counts of felony burglary.
Robert E. Colson admitted in court last week to unlawfully entering at least two businesses, explained Chenango County District Attorney Michael Ferrarese. Colson's trial was scheduled to begin the following Monday.
According to the plea, Colson will be sentenced to state prison with an indeterminate sentence of 3 to 6 years as a second felony offender for the crimes, which are considered non-violent offenses. He is scheduled to return to court on April 11 to be officially sentenced by Chenango County Court Judge Frank B. Revoir.
