BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats girls’ basketball team hosted local opponent Oxford in the first round of the round robin playoffs, which features the middle teams of the MAC standings, including Walton/Downsville.
It wasn’t easy but B-G came away with the 39-31 win as both teams prepare to face Walton/Downsville next.
The teams battled to a tie at the end of the first quarter and then Oxford took a brief one-point 17-16 lead at halftime with both teams playing physical on defense with several jump balls.
Oxford also helped pressure B-G with pressuring them as the shot clock winded down. However, the Bobcats had a few good opportunities off the inbound pass.
After trailing at halftime, the Bobcats went right to work to start the second half. Jayslin Henderson fought for the ball with winning the jump and offensive rebounds to help B-G take the lead, which they held even with Oxford attempting a full comeback at the end.
