NORWICH — Recently, the Chenango County Board of Supervisors recognized National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Week, February 15 through 22, by issuing a county proclamation of support.
The board encouraged residents to appreciate the efforts and dedication of the local FFA student members and advisors.
At the meeting, Norwich City School District (NCSD) student and FFA member Tamika Marango spoke on behalf of FFA and thanked the board for the recognition. She was accompanied by high school teacher and FFA Advisor Kim Doyle, along with middle school Ag teacher Jessie Howe.
"There are 172,273 FFA members in the country, 7,084 in the state and 273 right here in Norwich but in all of those numbers it only takes one to make a difference," said Marango.
“I'm honored to stand before you today proudly representing the Norwich FFA chapter,” she said.
"As we celebrate National FFA week and receive this county proclamation, we recognize not just the numbers but the impact that each FFA member, advisor and supporter has on the future of agriculture and leadership," Marango continued."On behalf of all Chenango County FFA members and advisors, thank you for the unwavering support of agriculture, education and youth development.”
She said over the last five months she was fortunate to experience many amazing things through FFA and her Agriculture classes.
