NORWICH – After sweeping the two-game set against Oneonta, the Norwich Purple Tornado girls’ basketball team hosted Sus Valley on Monday night in the final regular season game. Norwich fell 48-27 to the Sabers, who swept the series.

Both teams went right to work in the first quarter until Sus Valley put the pressure on the Purple Tornado in the second quarter to take a 24-15 lead at halftime and had the overall edge. Norwich’s Josey Ryan hit a three and Alivia Burrell, who earned the start, added two points before the break.

Norwich was held without a field goal in the second half, but did make three free throws after halftime. Raegan Doliver stole the ball with under four minutes to play in the fourth quarter and Kerragan Reid scored on the possession. Doliver scored four points in the fourth quarter to help offensively as well. Reid was strong defensively throughout the contest along with Emma Urgo’s blocks.

With limiting Norwich offensively, Sus Valley once built a 30-point lead before the Purple Tornado got back on track. Norwich also went to the free throw line 27 times but only had 11 successful attempts.
