CHENANGO COUNTY — Retired Educators of New York (RENY) Chenango is now accepting applications for their annual Future Educators Scholarship.

Any Chenango County high school senior who plans to become an educator may apply for the $1,000 scholarship. Applications are due April 28 and should be sent to RENY Chenango President and Scholarship Committee Chair Mary Ann Luciano at maryann.luciano@gmail.com.

"The students write a business letter to our scholarship committee and then the scholarship committee chooses a letter that meets the points that we require for the letter, and that shows us that young person is going to be going into education as a future," said Luciano.

The application consists of a business letter email explaining the student's background and interest in becoming an educator, the college or university they plan to attend and course of study, and a reference from an active high school educator.
