ENDWELL – The Norwich Purple Tornado boys’ swim team traveled to Maine-Endwell High School pool on Wednesday for the Section IV, Class B preliminaries. At prelims, where the team currently sits second behind Oneonta, there were 15 new personal records and over 40 seconds dropped.

There were also 10 swims in the top eight and four in the top 16 to advance to the finals on Saturday. Congratulations, Norwich!

As a team, Norwich finished fourth in the 200 free relay with a team of Nate Shtrauch, Alex Moutarde, Amon Oliver, and Kris Deuel, who finished with a time of 1:42.47. The same team came in fifth in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:54.11.

Kris Deuel and Amon Oliver both set new personal records in the 200 freestyle. Deuel took fifth in the prelims with a new best time of 1:59.17 as Oliver finished behind him in sixth with his new best 2:03.62.
