NEW YORK - Assemblyman Joseph Angelino (R,C-Norwich) is standing in solidarity and voicing his support for the correctional officers across New York who are standing up to protest for better and safer working conditions.

Angelino argues these brave men and women deserve the support of New Yorkers for doing a mostly thankless job in unsafe conditions that only seem to be getting worse.

“Our correctional officers are some of the finest and most hardworking men and women in the country. As a former police chief, I had the privilege of working with them and getting to know many of them personally, and I can tell you they show up to work every day ready to do an incredibly dangerous job.

"Unfortunately, over the past several years, Albany Democrats have done everything in their power to demonize these folks and put their safety and the safety of inmates in jeopardy with things like the HALT Act, which handcuffs officers and doesn’t allow them all the tools they need to handle the most violent inmates. I am always proud to have their backs and support increased protections from our state government, safer working conditions, and better living conditions for inmates,” said Angelino.

Assemblyman Angelino represents the 121st Assembly District, which includes parts of Broome County, Delaware County, Madison County, Chenango County, and Otsego County.
