NORWICH - The Place will be hosting a "Meet the Coaches" and registration night for the Girls on the Run (GOTR) and Heart and Sole programs from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 27 at The Place, located at 22 East Main Street in Norwich.

Girls on the Run is a "physical, activity-based, positive youth development program that inspires third through eighth grade girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running."

Visitors to the meet and greet will have the opportunity to learn more about the programs and meet this year's coaches, as well as register for the 2025 season.

Girls on the Run is open to female students attending Perry Browne School. They spend the season learning social-emotional skills, building confidence and self esteem, and working on a community impact project.

"We did friendship. We did small acts of kindness. We’re superstars, and that’s the whole kind of thing, so we talk about our inner star shining," said GOTR Coach Karen Clark-Snitchler. "We did positive talk, self talk, negative self talk, making sure they understand the difference and how we try to change that."

New this year is the Heart and Sole program, which is open to female students attending Norwich Middle School.
