VESTAL – Over the weekend, the UV/Norwich/GMU, Oxford/Greene, Bainbridge-Guilford, and Afton/Harpursville bowling teams traveled to Midways Lanes in Vestal to compete in the Section IV Class championships. UV/Norwich/GMU represented the “B” class while Oxford/Greene was “C”, and B-G and Afton/Harpursville in “D”.
After sharing the girls’ MAC league title victory, UV/Norwich/GMU and Oxford/Greene girls both send their teams to state qualifiers, as well as top bowlers from the section who will compete for a spot on the states team.
Good luck to all those who advance to the state qualifiers, which will be held at Valley Bowling Center in Waverly on February 28 through March 1.
UV/Norwich:
The UV/Norwich/GMU girls, who split the league title with Oxford/Greene, came in second in Class B, behind Maine-Endwell, with a score of 2461. M-E girls won with 2867 points. The Storm boys finished third with a total of 3050 points.
Girls:
Shelby Rose led the Storm girls with taking the victories in both the class B high game and high series. As the top female bowler in Class B, she led the class with a high series of a 665 and had the highest game of a 290. She now prepares for the state qualifiers.
Lee Clipston finished with a 469 series as Amelia Beckwith rolled a 466 series. Layla Stevens had a 436 series while Kylie Menard achieved a 425 series.
