ITHACA – On Sunday afternoon, local indoor track teams traveled to Cornell University to compete in the Section IV state qualifiers. The Bainbridge-Guilford-Afton girls took 10th at state quals while UV tied for 16th and Norwich in 25th. Corning boys’ and girls’ indoor teams won the meet overall.

The Norwich boys tied for fourth with Chenango Valley as BGA tied with Sidney for 10th place and UV tied with Groton for 14th place.

Girls:

The BGA girls’ indoor team is proud to send freshman Maddie Ingham to states after she earned a third place finish in the 1000 meter run with a new best time of 3:10.83.

Ingham was also a member of the BGA girls’ 4x800 meter relay team, along with Vanessa Brazee, Appalonia Bushaw, Maddie Ingham, and Laila Williams. The team finished fourth with a time of 11:16.84.

Bushaw, Brenna George, Makayla McCloud, and Elanor Sprow took ninth in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:58.62.

Makayla McCloud sprinted the 55 meter dash in a new best 7.52 seconds, where she finished third as Macey LaFever and Chandler Benjamin both ran the 3000 meters. LaFever, an eighth grader, took 14th with a time of 14:21.35. Benjamin, a senior, followed in 15th place with a time of 14:26.86.
