SHERBURNE - Two people were arrested on multiple drug-related charges following a traffic stop in the Town of Sherburne on February 7, reported the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.

Jason R. Chase, 41, of Norwich, and Danielle A. Froelich, 21, of Cincinnatus, were charged with various degrees of criminal possession of a controlled substance after law enforcement allegedly found packaged drugs and related materials during a traffic stop.

The sheriff's office worked with the Norwich Police Department and the Village of Sherburne Police Department.

According to the sheriff, police conducted a traffic stop where they identified the driver as as Chase, who was wanted on an active warrant for a violent felony issued by Chenango County Court.

Upon taking Chase into custody, officers allegedly discovered a quantity of individually packaged drugs in his possession.

Police said Froelich was a passenger in the vehicle and was also allegedly found in possession of drugs and packaging materials.

Chase was charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony, and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class A misdemeanor. Chase was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail and scheduled to appear in Town of Sherburne Court at a later date.

Froelich was charged with three counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony, and fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony. She was arraigned and released on an appearance ticket and is also scheduled to appear in Town of Sherburne Court at a later date.

All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
