NORWICH — Chenango County Planning and Development will be partnering with Getthere to host a travel training event for organizations and residents from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., March 27, at Norwich American Legion, located 29 Sheldon Street.
Organizations can learn how to assist in safe transportation options for clients and area residents will learn how to find a taxi and additional services, road crossing safety, and more.
“Getthere is a mobility management program of the Rural Health Network of South Central New York whose mission is to advance the health and well-being of rural people and communities by improving transportation access,” said Director of Planning and Development Shane Butler.
“Transportation in Chenango County is a moving target,” he added. “Many offices are working to figure this out but it is going to take some time.”
The department actively researches grant opportunities in order to better serve the county residents and actively works with the clerk of the board department to find solutions to the county losing its public transit company.
