OXFORD – In the early hours of Saturday, March 1, the New York State Police and Oxford Fire Department responded to a reported accident and burning vehicle along State Route 12 in Oxford.

At approximately 1:21 a.m., New York State Police at Norwich were dispatched by the Chenango County 911 Center for a reported vehicle on fire.

When troopers arrived on scene, members of the Oxford Fire Department were extinguishing the fire and discovered the driver of the vehicle was deceased.

Police identified the driver as 25-year-old Christopher O. Ojuro, of New Hartford. Police said Ojuro was the only person in the vehicle.

NY State Police reported an investigation at the scene determined that while northbound on State Route 12, a Nissan Pathfinder went off the roadway, struck a guiderail then hit a tree and caught on fire.
