OXFORD — After 31 years of service to the Oxford Memorial Library, Nancy Wilcox has retired from her position as Library Director.

Nancy’s library journey began as a clerk at Sidney Memorial Library and then Senior Library Clerk at Oxford Memorial Library. With her passion for the library and personal ambition, Nancy Wilcox pursued a college degree and became the Library Director at Oxford.

The mark Nancy has left at the Oxford Memorial Library is astounding. She worked through the process to get the library “on-line,” when all the books and media had to be catalogued, barcoded, and added to the automated system connecting all Four County Libraries. Nancy also oversaw the library’s Community and Youth Services Room construction in 2009 and other renovations in 2012. As Library Director, Nancy Wilcox and her husband Dan Wilcox have read stories to generations of Oxford students.

The library remains well cared for, though; Nancy has passed the torch to Oxford graduate Gillian Mulder. After graduating from Binghamton University in 2023, Gillian Mulder began working at the Oxford Memorial Library as a clerk. Gillian quickly fell in love with the library and serving the community, and she began to host library programs for adults and help with the Youth Summer Reading Program.

When Nancy announced her retirement, Gillian was grateful and excited to be promoted to Library Director. If you have visited the Oxford Memorial Library in the past year, you have probably met Gillian at one of her Craft Nights, working at the circulation desk, or helping someone out with the computers.

The Oxford Memorial Library is excited to see what new and creative ideas Gillian will bring as the new Library Director.
