NORWICH - 4-H youth will give presentations Saturday, March 15 on a variety of subjects. They invite the community to join the program starting at 9 a.m. in the CCE building located at 99 North Broad Street in Norwich.

"This event is one of the most beneficial programs we offer," said 4-H Youth and Families Supervisor Ag Literacy Coordinator Kristi Gorrell.

"It teaches kids how to speak confidently and prepares them for public speaking in school, work and life,” Gorrell said.

Presentations will be for all levels from first time presenters to professional speakers. They will speak on a variety of subject matter in divisions including Formal Speech, Illustrated Talk, Recitation, Dramatic Interpretation, Interviews and Horse Communication.

She said 28 4-H youth ages from five to 15 will be competing. Those that do well will move onto the regional competition and then to state competition at Cornell.

"The kids will be speaking on everything from how to take care of baby goats to making cookies," Gorrell added.

Last month, 4-H youth learned about public presentations from one of their own public speakers, Lily M. She shared her knowledge and gave tips to help the kids ready for the competition.
