NORWICH - A Norwich resident was arrested this week on felony drug and forgery charges following a police investigation into the sale of cocaine, methamphetamine, and counterfeit U.S. currency, according to the Norwich Police Department.

Leroy Lamar Lindsey, 37, was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance (class B felony), criminal possession of a controlled substance (class D felony), and first-degree forgery (class C felony).

According Norwich Police Chief Reuben J. Roach, the investigation began in January 2025, focusing on illegal drug sales in the city. During the course of the investigation, undercover officers allegedly purchased cocaine and methamphetamine from Lindsey. Authorities also allege that he was circulating counterfeit $100 bills during this period.

Lindsey was arraigned in central arraignment court and held on $25,000 bail at the Chenango County Correctional Facility pending an appearance in Norwich City Court.

“The officers did a great job through long hours of surveillance, and great investigative work,” said Chief Roach.

All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
