NORWICH - The Chenango County Historical Society (CCHS) was recently awarded a donation by the Stewart’s Holiday Match program totaling $1,250. Funds go directly to support activities designed to share local history with children and families. CCHS collaborates with other community organizations in order to develop program offerings, with local history to be featured at a variety of family-friendly festivities this season, including the South Otselic Fishing and Heritage Day, Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport Day, Chenango County Dairy Day, and the Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival.

“Thanks to continued investment from the Holiday Match program, we are able to extend programming beyond our museum campus,” said Jessica Moquin, CCHS executive director. “Being a recipient of this support from Stewart’s Shops is always inspiring! This gift ensures that child-friendly and family-focused programs in celebration of Chenango County’s unique cultural heritage remain available throughout the region.”

Since the program’s inception in 1986, the Stewart’s Holiday Match has awarded more than $39 million to a variety of non-profit organizations. All funds allocated by the Stewart’s Holiday Match go to support programs for children 18 and under in Stewart’s market area. Program funds are comprised of a 50-50 match by Stewart’s Shops with donations made by in-store customers.

First established in 1939, CCHS is the area’s premier heritage museum dedicated to celebrating local culture – its unique traditions and noteworthy stories. CCHS programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. CCHS is also a proud partner of Bloomberg Connects, an app that allows visitors to enhance their exhibit experience through audio clips, videos, and more. Download this free digital museum guide via the Apple Store or Google Play, and visit www.ChenangoHistorical.org for more details about this and other museum programs.

The mission of the Chenango County Historical Society and Museum is to explore the culture of Chenango County through preservation and presentation of local heritage.
