BAINBRIDGE — The Bainbridge Farmers' Market welcomes all to visit the market every Monday evening from 4 to 7 p.m., located in the Bainbridge Community Center at 5 Prospect Street.
Many local farmers will be on hand to offer a diverse range of products such as fresh produce, cheeses, eggs, baked goods, crafts and artisan-made goods.
“We're super excited to announce on-line shopping and demonstrations are now a part of the Bainbridge Farmers’ Market,” said Black Oak Farm owner Samantha Frederick.
Frederick said online orders start at 6 a.m., Wednesday and must be in by Friday before 11:55 p.m. Orders can be picked up the following Monday evening when the market is open. Order online from any of the vendors at www.bainbridgefm.eatfromfarms.com/.
She said demonstrations will vary and include basics on planting seeds, growing sourdough starter, plant husbandry, making tea blends and basics in food preservation.
“We've scheduled a demonstration on sourdough starter for Monday, March 31 and a soil blocking demo will be on April 7,” Frederick added. “Both will start about 5:30 p.m.”
She explained sourdough starter is a living culture of wild yeast and lactic acid bacteria, cultivated from flour and water that's used to leaven, otherwise known as rising the bread or baked goods. Soil blocking is how to start a seed in compressed soil, instead of a pot, creating healthier roots.
Weekly vendors include Pies by Terri, M&M Unspun Creations, Enough and a Little Bit More, Davis Acres, Bainbridge Silk Mill Nursery and Flowers, Three Black Dog Designs, Serenity Acres, Black Oak Farm, Lengel Farms and more.
