CHENANGO COUNTY – Indoor track athletes Maddie Ingham, Tori Suda and Matthew Wombacker from Bainbridge-Guilford and Lara Tefft from Norwich qualified and competed in Nationals at both New York City and Boston after a strong winter season.

Tefft, along with B-G’s Suda and Wombacker, competed at the Nike indoor nationals at the Armory Track & Field Center in New York City. Wombacker and Ingham traveled to Boston to compete in the New Balance Nationals.

Lara Tefft and Tori Suda both competed in the weight throw at Nike indoor nationals, where Tefft finished 20th in the Emerging Elite division with a throw of 11.92 m (39 feet, one and a half inches). Suda gave it her best efforts but threw three fouls and did not finish.

B-G’s Maddie Ingham raced in the 800m at New Balance, where she finished 66th of 67 with a time of 2:33.23.

Matthew Wombacker had a busy weekend of traveling for both nationals and even played in the Section IV boys’ volleyball tournament. Coach Nick Mayo was impressed with Wombacker’s dedication as he highlighted his weekend itinerary.

“Matt Wombacker’s schedule was race Friday night, five hour drive home, 10 volleyball games Saturday, then a four hour trip to race again to a third place finish at Nationals,” Mayo said.

Wombacker competed in the racewalk at both Nationals events, where he finished third place in the championship division at New Balance in Boston but then disqualified. He finished third in the championship division at Nike. He is now preparing to race at the Adidas track nationals in Virginia Beach, along with teammate Harpo Hardt in the triple jump. The meet will take place this coming weekend, March 21 through March 23. Good luck to both Wombacker and Hardt.

Great job to all athletes.
