CHENANGO COUNTY — The Chenango Health Network Cancer Financial Assistance Program is holding their third annual potted daffodil fundraiser to support individuals in Chenango County diagnosed with cancer.
Individuals can purchase tickets for daffodil plants now through April 3, from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday, at the Chenango Health Network office in the Eaton Center, located at 19 Eaton Avenue in Norwich.
Plants are available in two sizes: 6.5-inch pots with three large bulbs for $14 and 4.5-inch pots with three miniature bulbs for $9.
After purchasing tickets, individuals can take them to Pires Flower Basket, located at 216 North Broad Street in Norwich, between April 12 and 18 to redeem them for daffodil plants.
"Everything that we make goes toward client care. We help with copays, prescriptions, gas cards," said Chenango Health Network Cancer Support Specialist Sandy Myers. "We just want to be able to help as many people as we can."
The Cancer Financial Assistance Program is divided into two categories: breast cancer, which is funded by the St. Agatha Foundation, and non-breast cancers, which is funded through donations. Myers said the program primarily provides financial assistance for treatments and prescriptions not covered by insurance, and gas cards to assist with the cost of transportation to and from medical appointments.
