SIDNEY - The Sidney Memorial Public Library would like to invite the community to a special Opening Reception on Saturday, April 5, from 1 to 3:45 p.m. for the art exhibit by Janet Whitbeck.
Janet will be showcasing her latest collection of acrylic pour paintings, crafted from recycled materials. Before this, Janet captured the beauty of the American West through photography with the U.S. Forest Service. Her work now reflects her continued passion for nature and sustainable art.
Janet grew up in Franklin, NY, and graduated from Franklin Central School. After she earned her second associate degree, she traveled throughout the western U.S. Janet says she became addicted to photography to document her travels while working for the U.S. Forest Service.
After working for the United States Forest Service, she started to paint, especially the pour acrylic painting style to deal with a medical condition. Aside from painting, Janet loves caring for her blind cat and a sheepadoo dog.
The art exhibit will be on display in the Smart Community room at the Sidney Memorial Public Library through April and will be available for viewing during regular library hours.
