OXFORD– The 2025 season is underway for the Oxford Blackhawks baseball team as they hosted Walton/Downsville in a non-league matchup on Saturday afternoon.

Oxford was in a 3-0 deficit after the first inning but battled back to tie and take the lead off strong balanced efforts at the plate and in the field to hold their opponent. Oxford came away with the 10-5 victory.

After Walton scored three runs in the first, Oxford answered back to cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the second inning. Conner Dunagan comes in clutch with the bases loaded and two outs with a two-run single to left field.

Dunagan would step back on the mound with a strong defense behind him to keep Walton/Downsville off the board in the third and fourth innings to allow his team to make a full comeback in the bottom of the fourth.
