OXFORD - Singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Abby Posner will bring her "genre fluid" blend of folk, roots, electronic and pop music to 6 On The Square in Oxford at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12.
Posner has been a working musician in Los Angeles for more than 18 years. She is able to master nearly any instrument that she can get her hands on, twisting genres and pushing boundaries. She can share a fierce lead-blues guitar solo or throw down a complex Earl Scruggs banjo riff as well as play drums, mandolin or bass while using her looping pedal. Posner’s songs range from intimate haunting folk songs to upbeat dance-your-pants-off crowd-pleasers.
This CalArts music graduate has composed and produced music for commercials, television, films and radio shows all over the globe — including “Maggie,” “The Fosters,” “This American Life,” “The Art of More” and “Last Tango in Halifax.” Posner appeared in two episodes of “Glee” playing banjo and guitar and the Freeform show “Famous In Love” playing banjo.
Posner also has scored music for multiple films (“Across Land Across Sea,” “Through Their Eyes,” award-winning short animation “Elizabeth Sees” and award-winning documentary “Lady Buds”) while playing and touring all over the U.S. In 2019, Posner played banjo and sang “Wagon Wheel” in Bank Of America's ad campaign for Ken Burns’ PBS documentary “Country Music” alongside Dom Flemons and Amythyst Kiah.
She has released multiple albums under her name and Abby & The Myth, and released her first full-length album with Blackbird Records in 2023 titled “Second Chances.” She landed official showcases at Folk Alliance International in 2022 and 2024 as well as Americana Fest 2023, and her music video “Quiet On Sunset” was featured on CMT.
Tickets for the 6OTS performance are $20 in advance or $25 at the door; purchase at 6onthesquare.org or call 607-843-OTS6 (6876) to make a reservation. Doors open one hour before the start of performances. The concert also will be streamed live online for $10; more information at 6onthesquare.org.
