OXFORD - New York State Police are investigating a fatal head-on crash that occurred on Saturday, April 12 at approximately 9:11 p.m. on State Highway 12 in the Town of Oxford.

A NY State Trooper from Norwich discovered the two-vehicle collision just south of County Road 4.

Police reported that Lawrence S. Slater, 51, of Norwich, was driving a Dodge Caravan north on the highway when he crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Chevrolet Equinox head-on.

The driver of the Equinox, Steven C. Biviano, 62, of Oxford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Slater was transported to UHS Wilson Hospital by Oxford Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
