NORWICH ― The PULSE (Preventing Use, Loss, and Stigma through Education) Coalition, The Place, and Reality Check are partnering to host an Earth Day Cleanup event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22 at Kurt Beyer Park, located at 95 Cortland Street in Norwich.
The event is for youth aged 11 and older.
"The idea is to get our youth out in the community volunteering and taking pride in their community. As spring is arriving we would like to clean up the park and get it ready for youth to use safely," said The PULSE Coordinator Jessica Colley. "Kurt Beyer is home to the local pool that attracts many of our youth and families in the warmer months. Day care centers and other agencies bring their youth there also."
Colley said youth will be provided grabbers to pick up trash and debris, and will not be picking anything up with their hands. Additionally, if youth find anything suspicious, they will ask an adult for help.
