NORWICH — The Chenango Arts Council has two upcoming workshops where participants can learn the art of candle making and hand ceramics.
The hand ceramics workshop is a series beginning on Tuesday, April 29 and held every Tuesday until May 20. The classes will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. and be taught by Esperanza Roncero.
This beginner-friendly series involves creating ceramics pieces without the use of a wheel. Projects include plates, flowerpots, trivets, decorative pieces for the wall or table. Participants will also be taught how to paint on their ceramic pieces.
The workshop series is $80 for Chenango Arts Council members and $85 for non-members. To register, visit ChenangoArts.org.
All supplies will be provided, with the exception of rolling pins, which attendees are encouraged to bring along with them. Additionally, it's recommended to wear clothes that can get dirty.
"Ceramics can be a little bit messy so you’ll definitely want to make sure you are wearing stuff that can be washable," said Chenango Arts Council Administrative Assistant Mary Beth Miller.
To celebrate Mother's Day, the Chenango Arts Council will also be hosting a Mother's Day Candle Making Workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 3.
