OXFORD – After a hard loss to Bainbridge-Guilford, the Greene Trojans baseball team looked for a quick bounce back on the road to neighboring Oxford. Both teams battled with Greene holding on to a 13-8 victory with the Blackhawks threatening late in the contest. Oxford also outhit Greene 11-9.
Both teams went back-and-forth in scoring with the Trojans having a big second inning with batting around and scoring six runs to extend their already 3-1 lead.
Greene rallied on two outs with Lincoln Youngs getting hit by the pitch and advancing to second on a single by Parker Flanagan. Cooper Davis reaches on an error to load the bases. A balk brought in a run before a walk reloaded the bases and two bases-loaded walks to follow drove in two more runs. Jackson Roth, who led off the inning with a fly out, was up again in the inning and drove in two runs on an infield single.
Oxford’s Degan Endress finally got out of the inning with a strikeout.
Oxford got one back on a two-out RBI single from Korbin Sampson.
Both teams added on in the third inning with Greene adding a one run on a fielder’s choice while Oxford plated two runs: one on an RBI double by Nic Dodzweit and a hit by pitch with the bases loaded drove in another run.
